Putting It All Together
The Person-Centered Manager Certificate
Evidence-based training that equips managers to lead people—not just tasks—within today's complex and diverse workplaces.
The Person-Centered Manager Certificate was designed in response to a persistent and well-documented organizational gap: managers are expected to lead people effectively, yet many receive little to no formal training in how to do so.
Peer-reviewed research consistently shows that individuals are most often promoted into management roles based on technical competence or individual performance—not on demonstrated people-leadership capability (DeRue & Wellman, 2009; DeRue et al., 2012). Once promoted, managers are frequently expected to "learn on the job," despite the fact that people management requires a distinct and complex skill set.

Management Training Gap
Managers are undertrained. Most managers are promoted for technical performance rather than people-leadership skills, despite the complexity of the role (DeRue & Wellman, 2009; DeRue et al., 2012).
Leadership development research further indicates that organizations routinely underinvest in early and mid-level manager training, even though managers account for substantial variance in employee engagement, wellbeing, and performance outcomes (Hannah et al., 2013). When managers are insufficiently prepared, the costs surface downstream—in turnover, disengagement, burnout, and increased HR escalation.

Organizational Risk
Underinvestment in manager training has downstream costs. Insufficient preparation is linked to higher turnover, disengagement, burnout, and people-management failures (Hannah et al., 2013).
The Person-Centered Manager Certificate responds directly to this gap by providing structured, evidence-based training that equips managers to lead people—not just tasks—within today's complex and diverse workplaces.
